After a Frisco ISD Board Workshop meeting, it was decided to delay Elementary School #43 in order to come up with a fresh redesign. Construction for the new school is now planned to start in the summer of 2021.
“Based on the discussion at the January Board workshop, we have slated the opening for 2022,” said Todd Fouche, deputy superintendent of business and operations. “We want to have a visioning process that includes the input of staff, students and the community.”
The original design for Elementary School #43 was based on previous school designs. Instead of adapting the design for current technology and educational trends, members of the board felt like it would be good to explore what could be done with a complete revision.
Building the new elementary school was originally moved up to this year because of the explosive student growth in the northwest corner of the district. The new elementary school would relieve nearby Newman Elementary and Miller Elementary, which are expected to exceed capacity by the fall of 2021.
